2.TUTORS
Dr Stephen Preston
Dr Stephen Preston is one of the outstanding musicians in the development of early music performance in Europe and one of its most respected figures. As a flautist he specializes in repertoire from the Baroque period up to the nineteenth century. Preston began his career on modern flute while still a student at the Guildhall School and this provided the essential role in the creation and development of the leading British period instrument ensembles and orchestras. During his illustrious career as both soloist and chamber musician he has performed to critical acclaim at the most prestigious festivals, music series and concert venues throughout Europe and the Far East. His extensive recordings encompass most of the major solo works of the baroque flute repertoire, and a wide cross-section of chamber and orchestral works, including the concertos of Vivaldi and CPE Bach. Preston's recording of the complete Bach sonatas have been acclaimed as the "clear first choice for this repertoire".

Dr. Mark Dannenbring
Dr. Mark Dannenbring has been at the forefront of wind performance in Taiwan since arriving in the early 80s. He was founder of the Tunghai Wind Ensemble, and served as artistic consultant and guest director of the Taiwan Navy Band in the 90s. He also served as an associate professor for the Graduate Arts Institute at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan while maintaining his full time position as associate professor of flute and head of the wind division at Tunghai University.
Mark has given classes in breathing and body awareness throughout Taiwan, New Zealand, and various music schools in the U.S.A. His provocative approach to the pedagogical aspects of flute playing has challenged many of the long held beliefs in this field. Such ideas are summarized in his book, Basics in the Art of Flute Playing. In recent years he has spearheaded a drive towards early music performance on period instruments and is often in demand as a lecturer or teacher in this area as well as classes in body awareness.
Mark received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Luther College in flute performance and conducting, the Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati in early childhood music education, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Iowa in flute performance and pedagogy. Additional studies have been taken in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Orff technique (certification from the Orff Institute in Salzburg), dance, Alexander Technique, Chi-Kung. He also completed course work at Ohio State University towards and interdisciplinary doctorate in dance and music theory.

Chris Norman
Born in Halifax, NS into a music loving family, Chris' influential work as a performer, composer, recording artist and teacher has done much to bring the simple wooden flute to the forefront as an alternative voice to the modern orchestral instrument and redefined the flute in traditional Canadian & Scottish traditional music. His busy performing schedule includes solo engagements and concerts with a variety of ensembles, appearing frequently as soloist with orchestra and touring with his own Chris Norman Ensemble. In years past Chris has also appeared worldwide as a member of the international folk trio, Helicon, the all-star Celtic fusion group, Skyedance, the acclaimed early music group, The Baltimore Consort and across Europe with Concerto Caledonia.
Norman's flute playing can be heard featured on the Oscar winning soundtrack of Titanic, the Hollywood films, Soldier, and the forthcoming Stone of Destiny. His solo CD releases have received unanimous praise from critics and audiences alike and appeared on Billboard's crossover charts. He's presently producing and hosting a program on connections between food & music for Inside the Music broadcast nationally on CBC Radio One in Canada and worldwide on Sirius. Through his work as founder and artistic director of the Boxwood Festivals and Workshops taking place in Canada, New Zealand & Europe, Chris has inspired thousands of musicians of all ages abilities.
